At International Spy Academy, your kids will discover how to become special agents for the one true God!
As we’ve been working on ISA this year, that phrase (“one true God”) has really stuck in my mind, and I’ve found myself using it as I taught The Kingdom Chronicles, Sunday school classes, and even my own children. There is only one true God.
Do our kids know that? Do we know that?
During the U.S. election season this past year, we heard a lot about Mormonism. Your kids were repeatedly reminded that Mormons are Christians—that we all believe in the same God. But did you know the god of Mormonism doesn’t share the same characteristics as the God of the Bible? Joseph Smith, the founder of this counterfeit religion, wrote that God was once a man and later became a “god” (History of the Church, Vol. 6, Ch. 14, p. 305–6). Another leader of Mormonism taught that God had a father. The god of Mormonism was not god from all eternity, as the Bible teaches about the one true God (Psalm 90:2; Jeremiah 10:10).
There is only one true God.
In the recent news, we’ve heard a lot about Islam. Your kids have been taught the Allah of Islam is the same as the God of the Bible. But did you know the Koran (Qu’ran) teaches that Allah needs to be perfected (Surah 24:35 and 9:32)? He is the greatest of deceivers according to chapters 3:54 and 8:30. In contrast, from the Bible, we learn the one true God is perfect (2 Samuel 22:31; Matthew 5:48) and cannot lie (Titus 1:2). (Find out more about the differences between Allah and the one true God here.)
There is only one true God who has revealed Himself in the Bible.
Do your kids know Him? Do they know how to tell the difference between the one true God and the counterfeit gods of false religions they’ll hear about in movies and at school? The one true God has said, “I am the Lord, and there is no other; there is no God besides Me” (Isaiah 45:5–the memory verse for Day 1). Do your kids believe this?
The very first day at International Spy Academy, your special agents will learn to uncover counterfeits through understanding there are only two main views of God: The Bible’s view and the Deceiver’s view. The Deceiver attempts to lure us from the one true God by presenting four main false ideas about God: there is no god, there are many gods, there is one false god, and we all can be part of god. Your kids will study the biblical account of Elijah and the prophets of the false god Baal (1 Kings 18) in which the one true God shows He is really is the only one true God. And then they’ll have the opportunity to test their detecting skills in a “views of God” game that lets them clearly see there is only one true God.
It’s so important that our kids know who the one true God is so that they can embrace the one true way of salvation through His one true Son, Jesus Christ! And so they can share this truth with others!
Evangelistic and apologetic—the way Answers VBS programs have always been.
